Bob Gaus of Tower Tee GC, took a big step in winning the Gateway PGA's Player of the Year award by winning the Ashworth Arch Classic at Forest Hills CC.  After finishing in the runner-up position in all three Majors in 2008, Gaus broke through on the demanding Forest Hills layout with 6 under par round of 96 in the 27 hole event.  Mark Faulkner of Lake of Egypt CC in Marion, IL, finished 4 strokes behind Gaus and now trails him by 156 points in the season standings with only three tournaments remaining.  Oak Brook GC pro, Mike Suhre,  came home third with a round of 1 under par.

In the Senior Division, Larry Emery of Carterville, IL, finished at 3 under par 99 to edge Westwood CC's Daryl Hartig by 2 strokes.  Host Forest Hills pro John Hayes and Bill Hall of Golf Galaxy shared the third place honors with even par round of 102.  Emery holds a slim 13 point advantage over Scott Bess of Columbia, MO, in the Senior Division Player of the Year standings.
