Hausmann Captures Gateway PGA Section Championship
Steve Hausmann of Algonquin GC, overcame a sore back and a tough golf course to win the Anheuser Busch/Nicklaus Apparel Section Championship at The CC of St. Albans. Hausmann fired a final round 66 to pull away to a 3 stroke victory over 2nd round leader Bob Gaus of Tower Tee GC. The PGA Professional from Algonquin GC had 8 birdies and 2 bogeys on the way to his 6 under par round on the challenging 7000+ yard layout. Mike Tucker of Bellerive CC ended up third at 5 under par and Mark Faulkner of Lake of Egypt CC in Marion, IL, finished at 4 under par. The victory for Hausmann is the second of his career as he captured the title in 2003 as well. |
