Moomey and Emery take early leads in MGL Playoffs with wins at Tapawingo
Brett Moomey of Bellerive CC shot a 5 under par round of 67 to capture Round 1 of the MGL Playoff Series at Tapawingo GC, presented by Callaway Golf and Mobile Pro Shops. Moomey, Asst. Golf Professional at Bellerive, made 6 birdies and only 1 bogey on the way to his first win of the year. Making birdies on 3 of the 4 first holes he played, Moomey cruised to a 2 shot victory over Brian Norman of Crab Orchard GC and Brian Fogt also of Bellerive CC who both finished at 69. Quincy CC Pro Gideon Smith finished at 70 to take fourth prize.
In the Senior Division, Larry Emery of Carterville, IL, continued his strong season to capture his 3rd win of the year with a round of 73. Emery edged Daryl Hartig of Westwood CC, John Hayes of Forest Hills, and Steve Heckel of Crab Orchard GC, by one stroke after these three split runner up honors.
